The event, formerly branded as Chicago Drives Electric, featured luxury and mainstream models from eight manufacturers: BMW, Chevrolet, Ford, Hyundai, Kia, Tesla, Toyota, and VinFast. By broadening the lineup, organizers aimed to provide a comprehensive venue for consumers to compare different propulsion technologies alongside traditional combustion engines in a single, accessible location.

Chicago Auto Show Wraps Expanded 'Behind the Wheel' Test Drive Event
Nearly 1,000 attendees logged more than 3,000 individual test drives over three days at the ComEd Building in Oakbrook Terrace. The Chicago Automobile Trade Association event, which concluded October 4, pivoted from its previous electric-only focus to showcase a diverse range of over 30 hybrid, gas-powered, and all-electric vehicles.

Beyond the driving experience, attendees engaged directly with product specialists to discuss vehicle features and integration into daily life. ComEd, the presenting sponsor, maintained a presence to address logistical concerns regarding home charging infrastructure, local rebates, and current incentives for electric vehicle owners. This consumer-focused model serves as a precursor to the larger 2027 Chicago Auto Show, scheduled for February 13-21 at McCormick Place, which will incorporate both indoor tracks and outdoor test experiences.
