Duolingo Faces Securities Class Action Over Alleged Growth Missteps

Investors who purchased Duolingo, Inc. Class A common stock between May 2, 2025, and February 26, 2026, are being invited to join a class action lawsuit. Filed by the Rosen Law Firm, the litigation alleges that the language-learning platform misled shareholders regarding the sustainability of its user growth.

The lawsuit claims that Duolingo management failed to disclose how deliberate user friction—introduced through aggressive ad volume and subscription upsells—was actively undermining Daily Active User (DAU) growth rates. According to the complaint, internal A/B testing had already alerted the company that these monetization tactics were damaging the free user experience. Furthermore, the filing alleges that the integration of rapidly generated AI content degraded overall product quality, contradicting public assurances that such improvements were driving retention and financial momentum.

Investors seeking to serve as lead plaintiff in the case must file a motion with the Court by December 7, 2026. Participation in the litigation does not require the payment of out-of-pocket fees, as the firm operates on a contingency fee basis. While a class has not yet been certified, those who purchased the stock during the specified period may be eligible for compensation if the action succeeds. Interested parties can contact Phillip Kim at the Rosen Law Firm for further details on the proceedings.
