Quarterhill Secures $28.2 Million Contract for LA Metro Toll Systems

Toronto-based Quarterhill has joined the modernization effort for Los Angeles County’s ExpressLanes, signing a $28.2 million subcontract with BRiC-TPS. The firm will provide technical and operational support for the back-office systems managing tolling, account services, and maintenance across the region’s primary interstate corridors for up to 14 years.

The agreement covers the I-10, I-110, and I-105 freeways, along with future corridors managed by the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority. Under the terms, Quarterhill is responsible for project management, security compliance, and staffing the on-site customer service help desk. The contract structure includes an 8-year base term with two 3-year options to ensure long-term stability for the agency’s tolling environment.

This partnership expands Quarterhill’s footprint in California, building on existing work with the California Department of Transportation. CEO Chuck Myers noted that the project requires a blend of advanced technology and specific operational expertise to manage one of the nation's largest managed lane programs. The firm has aggressively pursued similar infrastructure contracts throughout 2026, with recent wins reported in Illinois, Indiana, New Jersey, and Massachusetts.
