Greenberg Traurig has bolstered its Chicago-based Private Funds Group by hiring Dannia Altemimei as a shareholder. Altemimei’s practice focuses on navigating the intersection of corporate law and regulatory compliance. She advises clients on the formation of closed-end, open-end, and hybrid fund structures, alongside the intricacies of securities, derivatives, and futures regulation. Her move to Greenberg Traurig follows an eight-year tenure at Balyasny Asset Management, where she served as senior deputy general counsel. During that time, she gained internal perspective on the operational and risk management hurdles that define the asset management sector.

Peter H. Lieberman, co-chair of the Private Equity Practice, noted that Altemimei’s background bridges the gap between sophisticated legal counsel and the commercial realities of investment management. Her past roles involved direct oversight of expense allocation, valuation, and counterparty credit committees, experience she expects to leverage at her new firm. A graduate of the University of Illinois College of Law, Altemimei was named one of The Hedge Fund Journal’s "50 Leading Women in Hedge Funds" in 2023.
