Lavazza Expands Hong Kong Footprint with New Flagship and Buffalo Milk Latte

Less than a year after debuting in Central, the Italian coffee chain Lavazza has opened its fifth Hong Kong location. Operated by Yum China Holdings, the brand is now targeting a rapid expansion to ten stores across the city, backed by a localized menu featuring the region’s first buffalo milk coffee drinks.

The latest outpost at Cheung Kong Center II anchors the brand’s premium strategy, featuring an installation of the iconic 1979 Carmencita moka pot designed by Marco Zanuso. This expansion follows a consistent rollout across high-end office towers and shopping hubs in Central and Causeway Bay, aimed at integrating Italian coffee culture into the local urban rhythm.

Driving this growth is the introduction of the Buffalo Milk Latte, a beverage that has already found significant success in Mainland China with over 1.2 million cups sold in 2025. By utilizing buffalo milk, the company offers a naturally sweet, creamy alternative to traditional dairy, distinguishing its menu from other coffee chains in the competitive Hong Kong market. Looking ahead, the brand plans to diversify its offerings further with the return of the Bicerin series and the debut of its signature Liquid Tiramisu, continuing a strategy of blending traditional Italian recipes with innovative formats to capture local consumer interest.
