AI Startup Town Hits $1 Billion Valuation Months After Launch

San Francisco-based Town secured a $108 million Series B round on Monday, pushing the two-year-old AI assistant developer to unicorn status. The rapid valuation follows a public launch only four months ago, during which the firm reported reaching millions of dollars in annual recurring revenue within weeks of operation.

Founded by former Plaid CTO Jean-Denis Greze, the company provides each employee with a personalized AI assistant known as a Townie. These agents integrate with existing workplace infrastructure, including email and calendar systems, to automate routine administrative tasks. Unlike standalone bots, Townies possess the capability to communicate with one another to share verified data and now extend their reach to facilitate interactions with external clients.

To support this growth, the startup introduced a shared workflow feature that propagates business updates across all employee agents automatically, eliminating the need for manual individual configuration. This latest funding round, which brings the company’s total capital raised to at least $160 million, was co-led by Forerunner Ventures and Menlo Ventures. Additional backing came from Andreessen Horowitz, Serena Ventures, and First Round Capital.
