Peak Energy Secures $108 Million for Sodium-Ion Battery Expansion
A $108 million infusion led by General Motors’ venture arm is set to propel Peak Energy’s push into the data-center sector. The Burlingame-based startup plans to use the capital to scale domestic manufacturing, aiming to satisfy a backlog of customer orders currently valued at more than $1 billion.
This financing deepens a relationship established in June, when Peak Energy and GM entered a joint development agreement for next-generation battery cells. By leveraging GM’s domestic manufacturing expertise, the startup intends to transition from development to large-scale production. The capital injection provides the necessary runway to fulfill their growing commercial pipeline while standardizing a technology intended to disrupt the conventional storage market.
