Brown & Brown Profit Climbs Despite Revenue Miss

Insurance brokerage Brown & Brown reported a third-quarter profit of $240 million, marking an increase over the $227 million posted during the same period last year. Despite this bottom-line growth, the firm fell slightly short of Wall Street expectations as revenue reached $1.73 billion against a projected $1.76 billion.

Brown & Brown Profit Climbs Despite Revenue Miss

The company’s commission and fee income served as the primary driver for the quarter, climbing to $1.7 billion from $1.55 billion a year ago. This expansion helped offset a significant decline in investment and other income, which dropped to $25 million from $56 million. On an adjusted basis, earnings reached $1.07 per share, missing the $1.09 estimate anticipated by FactSet analysts.

Chief Executive J. Powell Brown attributed the performance to sustained efforts in customer acquisition. He noted that the team continues to navigate a challenging rate environment while focusing on organic growth across its brokerage operations.
