A 6.3% slide in premarket trading greeted Armstrong World Industries this morning after the Pennsylvania-based building supplier failed to meet Wall Street’s third-quarter earnings expectations. Armstrong World Industries Stumbles on Missed Profit Targets

The Lancaster-based manufacturer reported quarterly earnings of $91.9 million, or $2.17 per share, an improvement over the $86.3 million, or $1.98 per share, recorded during the same period last year. Despite this growth, adjusted earnings hit $2.26 per share, missing the $2.39 consensus estimate tracked by FactSet. Revenue performance was more resilient, climbing 12% to $475.8 million, slightly outpacing the $472.6 million anticipated by analysts.

Looking toward 2026, the company adjusted its earnings guidance to a range of $8.30 to $8.40 per share, tightening the upper limit from its previous July forecast of $8.50. This revised outlook falls short of the $8.43 average projection held by analysts. While the firm maintained its revenue target for 2026 between $1.79 billion and $1.8 billion, the profit contraction weighed heavily on market sentiment.
