Apple Pushes MacBook Pro Pricing Into Five-Figure Territory

A fully configured touchscreen MacBook Pro now commands a staggering $14,549, marking a sharp increase from previous high-end models. As Apple shifts toward a touchscreen interface for its professional laptop line, the combination of premium hardware upgrades and component scarcity has pushed the total cost to unprecedented levels.

Apple Pushes MacBook Pro Pricing Into Five-Figure Territory

The base model begins at $2,899, but the financial leap to the top-tier 16-inch version is driven largely by massive storage and memory demands. Equipping the machine with a 16TB SSD adds $7,000 to the bill, while 128GB of memory costs an additional $2,000. These figures represent a $4,400 jump over the previous generation’s maximum price of $10,149, reflecting both the integration of the M5 Max chip and the broader hardware market's reliance on high-capacity components for AI-driven workloads.

This transition marks a notable pivot for Apple, which famously moved away from the Touch Bar years ago. While the company now embraces full touchscreen functionality, the cost of entry for a fully realized workstation has reached a new extreme. Preorders for these machines open October 30, with units hitting the market on November 6.
