Columbus McKinnon Shares Surge Following Earnings Beat

A 16% jump in premarket trading greeted Columbus McKinnon on Tuesday after the Charlotte-based machinery manufacturer reported fiscal second-quarter results that shattered analyst expectations. Driven by the successful integration of Kito Crosby, the company posted adjusted earnings of 61 cents a share, significantly outperforming the projected 38-cent consensus.

Columbus McKinnon Shares Surge Following Earnings Beat

The company reported sales of $539.3 million for the quarter ending in September, comfortably exceeding the $518.7 million anticipated by Wall Street. This growth trajectory, largely fueled by the February acquisition of rival crane and shackle producer Kito Crosby, prompted leadership to raise their full-year revenue outlook. Columbus McKinnon now expects annual sales to land between $2.13 billion and $2.17 billion, climbing above previous guidance and analyst estimates of $2.1 billion.

Despite the strong operational performance, the company recorded a net loss of $25.5 million, or 76 cents a share, compared to a profit of $4.6 million in the same period last year. This bottom-line decline reflects the impact of amortization charges and other one-time items excluded from the adjusted earnings figure that buoyed investor sentiment.
