Laureate Education Buys Lima University for About $35 Million

Universidad Peruana de Ciencias Aplicadas, Laureate’s Peruvian subsidiary, will absorb UCAL after an integration process, the company said. The additional campus can accommodate roughly 5,000 students and currently has almost 2,500.

Laureate said the purchase will help UPC expand in Metropolitan Lima, where it sees strong demand but limited room to grow its existing campus. The company said the deal advances UPC’s aim of bringing quality education to more young people and supporting them through each stage of their educational journey.
