Florida Bar Leaders Baker-Barnes and Hirani Conclude Historic Terms

Rosalyn Sia Baker-Barnes and Arti Ajit Hirani wrap up their leadership roles at The Florida Bar and the Young Lawyers Division this week, marking a year defined by record-breaking initiatives and a focus on expanding legal career resources across the state.

Florida Bar Leaders Baker-Barnes and Hirani Conclude Historic Terms

Baker-Barnes made history as the first Black woman to serve as president of The Florida Bar, while Hirani concluded her term as the second Indian American president of the Young Lawyers Division (YLD). Their collaboration prioritized mentorship and professional development, leveraging their backgrounds from the Palm Beach County Bar Association and the Orange County Bar Association to modernize member engagement.

Throughout their tenure, the YLD expanded its reach through high-impact events, including its largest Affiliate Outreach Conference and the inaugural Florida Bar Job & Resource Fair. The latter drew participants from across the country, connecting job seekers with over 70 employers and resulting in immediate job offers. The leadership duo also addressed the shifting legal landscape by hosting a landmark AI seminar that attracted 4,200 attendees, alongside a regional listening-session series that provided a platform for 500 members to discuss court operations and case management challenges.

Beyond their administrative roles, both remain active practitioners. Baker-Barnes, a shareholder at Searcy Denney Scarola Barnhart & Shipley, P.A., continues her work in civil trial law and medical negligence. Hirani, a shareholder at Meenakshi A. Hirani, P.A., maintains a diverse practice spanning business law, estate planning, and international tax. As they step down, the pair leaves behind a legacy of increased inclusivity and modernized professional support for the third-largest state bar in the United States.
