Comporium Taps Ribbon Communications for Voice Network Overhaul

The project centers on the deployment of Ribbon’s vC20 Call Controller and Application Server. By migrating away from traditional ATCA-based hardware, Comporium expects to significantly shrink its physical footprint and lower power consumption. The upgrade functions as a strategic shift toward an all-IP interconnect landscape, a transition currently gaining momentum among service providers across the United States.

Mike Deller, SVP of Engineering and Planning at Comporium, noted that the move reinforces the company’s push toward modern cloud environments. Ribbon, which provides software-defined communications and optical networking, will also deploy its professional services teams to manage the implementation and optimization of the new architecture. Elizabeth Page, Regional Senior Sales Director at Ribbon, emphasized that the collaboration is designed to reduce technical complexity while preparing the regional provider for future network demands.
