Franchetti concluded a nearly 40-year military career in 2025, during which she became the first woman to serve as Chief of Naval Operations and as a member of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. Her military background includes commanding the USS Ross, two carrier strike groups, and the U.S. Sixth Fleet. Since retiring from active duty, she founded Franchetti Strategic Solutions LLC, a consultancy focused on national security and global strategic planning.

Stephen M. Spray, president and chief executive officer of Cincinnati Financial, stated that the board expects her extensive experience in high-level federal leadership to provide immediate value to corporate discussions. Beyond her consulting work, Franchetti remains active in academia, serving as a fellow at the University of Chicago and transitioning to a distinguished practitioner role at Northwestern University in 2027.
