Alpharetta Firm Uses Soy Chemistry to Extend Georgia Roof Lifespans

As Georgia’s intense UV radiation and humidity accelerate the decay of asphalt shingles, Alpharetta-based Guaranteed Roof is deploying bio-based chemical treatments to reverse material degradation. The process targets the molecular structure of roofing, aiming to provide a sustainable alternative to the cost and waste of full-scale roof replacements.

Alpharetta Firm Uses Soy Chemistry to Extend Georgia Roof Lifespans

Asphalt shingles rely on internal petrochemical oils to maintain flexibility and waterproofing. In the Georgia climate, these essential compounds evaporate rapidly, causing shingles to turn brittle and shed protective granules. To counter this, Guaranteed Roof uses a soy-based technology designed to penetrate the asphalt core, replacing lost volatiles and restoring the pliability necessary to withstand frequent thermal expansion and contraction.

Unlike superficial coatings, this treatment facilitates a molecular exchange that mirrors the composition of original petroleum oils. Laboratory testing indicates that the process restores the structural integrity of aging shingles and significantly improves granule adhesion. Each application extends the service life of a roof by five years, offering a measurable reduction in landfill waste by delaying the need for full material replacement.
