RQ Bio Secures $115 Million to Accelerate Influenza Antibody Program

A $115 million Series A funding round has positioned U.K.-based biotech firm RQ Bio to fast-track its lead antibody program, RQB01, intended for seasonal influenza protection in high-risk populations. The capital infusion bolsters the company’s mission to provide comprehensive respiratory viral prophylaxis through single-dose therapies for those who remain vulnerable despite standard vaccination.

The financing was led by Frazier Life Sciences, drawing participation from a consortium of new investors including EQT Life Sciences, Forbion, Monograph, and Wellington Management. Founding investor LifeArc Ventures, along with stakeholders Oxford Science Enterprises and the University of Oxford, also contributed to the round. According to CEO Mike Westby, the funds will drive clinical development while scaling the firm’s proprietary discovery platform for future respiratory viral assets.

Alongside the capital influx, the company appointed Christian S. Schade as executive chairman. Schade, who previously led Halda Therapeutics through a $3 billion acquisition by Johnson & Johnson, joins as the firm prepares to transition RQB01 from the laboratory toward clinical implementation.
