EMH metering and Corinex validate BPL for smart grid connectivity

Testing in Bratislava has confirmed that the CASA Smart Meter Gateway is fully compatible with Corinex Broadband Powerline technology. This integration allows utility providers to bypass the limitations of cellular networks, securing a reliable data transmission path for smart meter deployments through existing electrical infrastructure.

EMH metering and Corinex validate BPL for smart grid connectivity

The validation process involved connecting a CASA SMGW to GWA software using a Corinex 1T BPL modem, successfully establishing data transmission. This proof of concept confirms that the hardware can operate seamlessly within existing distribution grids. For energy companies, this offers a viable alternative in regions where cellular signals are weak or unavailable.

Peter Sobotka, CEO of Corinex, noted that the interoperability demonstration serves as a milestone for grid modernization. Peter Heuell, CEO of EMH metering, emphasized that this connectivity option provides customers with a robust tool to manage smart meter rollouts more effectively. By leveraging powerlines for communication, utilities can expand their digital reach without relying solely on wireless infrastructure.
