Coastal Mississippi Prepares for August Fishing Month

The region highlights a diverse array of professional charter services and public access points to anchor its late-summer tourism push.

The destination currently boasts nine local captains recognized with FishingBooker’s 2026 Angler's Choice Award, placing them among the top 8.3% of fishing professionals globally. These guides operate across varied environments, ranging from the inshore marshes of Gulfport and Gautier to deep-sea excursions departing from Biloxi’s Point Cadet Marina.

Beyond traditional charters, the region emphasizes accessibility through specialized infrastructure. Presley's Outing on Goodes Mill Lake offers freshwater amenities and equipment rentals, while Ship Island Excursions provides ferry access to barrier islands for surf fishing. For those seeking a culinary connection, the "You Catch, We Cook" program at Shaggy’s allows visitors to have their daily haul prepared at locations in Biloxi, Gulfport, and Pass Christian. According to Judy Young, CEO of Coastal Mississippi Tourism, these integrated experiences—combining professional guidance with local hospitality—define the region's appeal for both novice families and seasoned anglers.
