cbdMD Backs White House Push for Federal Hemp Regulation

The White House has formally urged Congress to standardize the treatment of hemp-derived products, seeking a federal framework that balances consumer access with public safety. For Charlotte-based cbdMD, the Administration's move signals a critical step toward the regulatory maturity and market legitimacy the company has long advocated for.

cbdMD Backs White House Push for Federal Hemp Regulation

In a recent communication to congressional leadership, the Office of Management and Budget identified hemp reform as a primary objective. The Administration is calling for legislation that preserves access to full-spectrum CBD products while establishing clear boundaries to mitigate potential health risks. Officials suggested that if a comprehensive framework cannot be finalized immediately, lawmakers should at least extend current implementation timelines to ensure the policy is constructed correctly.

Ronan Kennedy, CEO of the NYSE American–listed company, welcomed the stance as a validation of the industry's need for science-backed standards. He noted that the company’s focus on transparency and quality positions it to thrive as the market moves away from unregulated operators. While separate federal efforts to reclassify cannabis continue to capture institutional interest, cbdMD maintains that the hemp sector requires its own dedicated regulatory clarity to ensure long-term stability for both compliant businesses and the consumers who rely on their products.
