Flipper Devices pivots to productivity with the Busy Bar

The Busy Bar resembles a specialized desktop clock, featuring a 72×16 LED matrix capable of displaying 16 million colors at 400 nits. Beyond its front-facing display, the device includes a secondary monochrome rear screen for status checks, an integrated speaker for notification sounds, and a suite of tactile controls including a scroll wheel and mode selector. Powered by a 3250 mAh battery, the unit offers eight hours of active use or two weeks of standby time, with a full recharge possible in one hour via a 15W adapter.

Functionality centers on Pomodoro-style timers and visual status indicators for remote workers. Through companion apps for iOS, Android, and macOS, the device can mute notifications or signal an “on call” status during meetings. By securing Matter certification, the bar doubles as a smart home controller, allowing users to trigger external automations based on their current focus state. Developers are encouraged to modify the hardware, with open firmware support and libraries for Python, TypeScript, and MQTT available.

Sales begin July 14 across the US, EU, UK, and Canada. The first 3,000 customers can secure the device for $199, while subsequent units will retail for $249.
