Lehigh Valley Marks America’s 250th with Year-Long Commemoration
While the nation marks its semiquincentennial with the standard long weekend, Lehigh Valley is extending the celebration well into the autumn months. The region, which famously sheltered the Liberty Bell during the Revolutionary War, has curated a series of historical reenactments, drone spectacles, and immersive exhibitions to honor the milestone.
Events include the "Revolution Retold" exhibition at the Allentown Art Museum, running through October 18, and the July 11 Easton Heritage Day, which commemorates the city’s status as one of only three locations where the Declaration of Independence was first publicly read. For those looking for spectacle, Coca-Cola Park will host "Liberty Ignited" on July 3, featuring a 250-drone display and a fireworks show. Visitors can also follow the Lehigh County Treasure Trail, a self-guided route connecting 20 landmarks, including the site where a replica Liberty Bell now stands outside Zion’s Reformed Church in Allentown.
