TCBY Marks 45 Years of Frozen Yogurt Legacy

Forty-five years after its 1981 debut, TCBY is revisiting its roots as the country’s original social network. The frozen yogurt pioneer is launching a summer-long anniversary campaign, blending retro branding with modern promotions to celebrate the community connections that have defined the brand since its inception.

The celebration, running through August, invites customers to experience a nostalgic trip back to the decade that launched the frozen yogurt craze. Stores nationwide will feature throwback decor and special limited-time flavors. For loyalty members, the festivities peak on August 4, when the brand offers a birthday BOGO promotion, granting a 45 percent discount on a second purchase. Beyond the counters, the company is hosting social media sweepstakes to distribute exclusive anniversary prize packs.

Rich Screnci, Executive Director of Famous Brands International, described the milestone as a tribute to the human side of the business. He noted that while the menu has expanded to include over 50 soft-serve flavors and various dietary-friendly options, the core appeal remains the brand's role as a neighborhood gathering space. To mark the occasion, the company is curating stories from longtime franchisees and customers, rewarding those who helped shape the brand's history with surprise commemorative gifts.
