Startup Island TAIWAN Expands Biotech Reach to Boston
Moving beyond its established West Coast footprint, the Taiwanese government-backed initiative Startup Island TAIWAN has launched a strategic push into Boston. A delegation of biomedical innovators visited the city from June 29 to July 2, aiming to bridge the gap between Taiwan’s research sector and the premier New England biotech hub.
Institutional tours provided the delegation with direct access to regional powerhouses, including MIT’s Center for Clinical and Translational Research, LabCentral, and Harvard Innovation Labs. This exposure is designed to facilitate long-term alliances in clinical development and licensing. Among the highlighted firms, CancerFree Biotech showcased its E.V.A. oncology platform, while RephImmune Biotechnology presented its proprietary RACE technology for solid tumor treatment. These efforts signal a broader transition for Taiwan, leveraging government-backed infrastructure to scale local biomedical expertise into the global pharmaceutical market.
