The poll, conducted for Danish newspaper Berlingske and Greenland’s Sermitsiaq, surveyed 497 citizens. Only 6% expressed a desire to leave the Danish Realm for the U.S., while 45% of respondents explicitly described Trump’s interest in their territory as a threat. Denmark’s Foreign Minister Lars Løkke Rasmussen dismissed the push, stating that Greenland belongs to its own people.

Greenlanders Reject US Annexation Plans in New Poll
A staggering 85% of Greenlanders oppose joining the United States, according to a new survey from the research firm Verian. Despite President Donald Trump’s repeated assertions that the island’s residents desire American integration, the findings highlight a profound disconnect between the White House and the Arctic territory’s population.
Trump has recently escalated rhetoric regarding the island, refusing to rule out military force to secure what he deems vital national interests. His administration has cited geopolitical competition with China and Russia, alongside Greenland’s vast mineral wealth, as primary motivations. However, Greenlandic Prime Minister Múte Egede has remained firm, declaring that the territory is not for sale and emphasizing the nation's ongoing pursuit of independence from Denmark.
