PassiveLogic Taps Former Siemens CTO to Lead Autonomous Building Push

Salt Lake City-based PassiveLogic has named former Siemens Smart Infrastructure CTO Thomas Kiessling as its new chief executive. Kiessling, a veteran of industrial AI and clean tech, takes the helm as the startup looks to scale its physics-based autonomous platform across the global commercial and industrial real estate market.

PassiveLogic Taps Former Siemens CTO to Lead Autonomous Building Push

The appointment arrives as the built environment faces a persistent efficiency gap. While commercial and industrial facilities account for nearly 40% of global energy consumption, less than 5% of these assets currently function as intelligent, autonomous systems. Most buildings remain shackled to legacy control architectures that require intensive custom engineering, rendering advanced automation inaccessible for the vast majority of the market.

PassiveLogic aims to disrupt this model with its proprietary Quantum world model and Hive edge platform. By applying physics-based AI to digital twins, the company enables facilities to self-optimize, theoretically lowering deployment costs while boosting grid interactivity and tenant comfort. Kiessling, who previously co-founded the EV charging firm AMPLY Power and led innovation programs like Building X at Siemens, is tasked with moving this technology from niche deployment to global commercial scale. His background in industrial transformation is expected to bridge the gap between complex engineering and market-wide adoption.
