Thermo Fisher Beats Estimates as Revenue Climbs to $12 Billion

Thermo Fisher Scientific surpassed Wall Street expectations in the second quarter, reporting a profit of $1.74 billion and a 10% surge in total revenue. The scientific instruments giant outperformed analyst forecasts for both top-line growth and adjusted per-share earnings, buoyed by new product launches and expanded manufacturing capabilities.

The company’s quarterly profit rose from $1.62 billion in the same period last year, reaching $4.68 per share. When accounting for one-time items, adjusted earnings hit $6.03 per share, comfortably beating the $5.72 consensus estimate tracked by FactSet. Total revenue reached $11.99 billion, outpacing the $11.71 billion projected by market analysts.

Chief Executive Marc Casper attributed the financial momentum to gains in market share and robust performance across the company’s core end markets. During the quarter, Thermo Fisher introduced several new platforms integrating AI analytics and opened a dedicated bioprocess design center in Massachusetts to accelerate drug development support. Management plans to provide updated fiscal guidance during their upcoming investor conference call.
