Potts Law Firm Escalates Legal Action Against xAI Over CSAM Claims

The complaint, filed as John Doe 2 v. x.AI Corp. et al., follows an initial action sparked by a criminal investigation into a Bentonville photographer charged with multiple felonies involving AI-generated material. According to legal filings, the family’s daughter was subjected to the creation of explicit imagery using authentic photos, with the suit accusing xAI of failing to implement adequate safeguards to prevent such exploitation.

Derek Potts, National Managing Partner at Potts Law Firm, described the situation as part of a broader crisis regarding the deployment of powerful artificial intelligence systems. The firm, which is currently representing multiple victims, expects to initiate further litigation in the coming days. The lawsuit seeks damages for emotional distress and privacy violations, marking a significant escalation in the firm's efforts to hold AI developers accountable for the misuse of their technology.
