Bank of America to Acquire Cybersecurity Firm MDSec

The acquisition, slated to close in the fourth quarter pending regulatory clearance, integrates MDSec’s technical consultancy expertise into the bank’s existing network. Bank of America already maintains a substantial footprint in the North of England, notably employing over 1,400 staff in Chester, where the institution hosts one of its primary cyber threat operations centers.

Kris Fador, the bank's Chief Information Security Officer, highlighted the firm's ambition to refine its global cybersecurity capabilities through this integration. Dominic Chell, co-founder of MDSec, noted that the transition to a major financial institution aligns with the consultancy’s focus on technical innovation. By folding the boutique firm into its broader global operations, Bank of America aims to sharpen its response to sophisticated digital threats.
