Plutus Debuts AI Agentic Platform for Life and Annuity Carriers

Chicago-based Plutus has launched an agentic platform designed to automate complex life and annuity insurance operations. Integrating directly into ServiceNow, the system utilizes a specialized semantic layer called Plutus Atlas to manage transaction workflows, cross-cutting controls, and book-level remediation across fragmented carrier data systems.

Plutus Debuts AI Agentic Platform for Life and Annuity Carriers

Insurance operations often struggle with structural inefficiencies where single transactions, such as beneficiary changes or withdrawals, trigger cascading errors across multiple systems. Existing point solutions frequently fail to resolve these issues, leaving human teams to manage "smarter inboxes" rather than achieving actual workflow transformation. Plutus aims to bridge this gap by deploying six specific agents that operate simultaneously across the entire lifecycle of a policy.

At the heart of the platform sits Plutus Atlas, an insurance-native semantic layer that establishes a unified view of customers, products, and financial obligations. By providing AI agents with this contextual intelligence, the platform enables straight-through processing for tasks like loan payouts and distribution requests, often reducing manual review requirements by up to 80 percent. The company reports that its pilot deployments have already succeeded in re-engaging over $100 million in at-risk policy value.

Co-founder Kara Anderson noted that the platform was developed specifically to address the limitations carriers face when attempting to modernize workflows within the ServiceNow ecosystem. The current suite includes tools for NIGO (Not-in-Good-Order) document management, quality checks, and the remediation of orphaned policies. While these six solutions are available for immediate pilot deployment, Plutus is already developing additional modules for beneficiary changes and new business intake.
