The expansion signals a shift in strategy for the company as it moves beyond coastal markets to tap into the 32 million annual visitors passing through the Bloomington complex. The Bandai Namco Cross Store will occupy a significant footprint, housing 15 distinct official shops under one roof. Fans can expect a comprehensive range of character goods, including offerings from Tamashii Nations, Bandai Candy, and the Gashapon Official Shop. To mark the debut, the store is offering branded tote bags to customers alongside various purchase-based incentives.

Bandai Namco to Open Dual Retail Concepts at Mall of America
Bandai Namco is planting a flag in the Midwest with the September 30, 2026, opening of two specialized retail destinations at Minnesota’s Mall of America. The launch features the second U.S. location for both the immersive Bandai Namco Cross Store and the dedicated GUNPLA hub, THE GUNDAM BASE.

Simultaneously, THE GUNDAM BASE will provide a dedicated space for model kit enthusiasts following the success of its Chicago predecessor. The store focuses on the world of GUNPLA, showcasing exclusive model kits and curated exhibits that cater to both veteran builders and newcomers. The company is leaning into the grand opening by offering limited-edition merchandise, such as the RX-78-2 Ver. 3.0 and clear-color Wing Gundam Zero EW kits. Those spending over $100 will receive a branded fanny pack while supplies last. According to Kunito Komori, President and CEO of Bandai Namco Amusement America, the move is intended to deepen the company's connection with North American fans by creating dedicated physical spaces for community engagement.
