American Water Foundation Grants $50,000 for Virginia Education
Seven nonprofit organizations across Virginia have been awarded grants by the American Water Charitable Foundation to bolster STEM education and workforce readiness. The funding, part of the Keep Communities Flowing program, aims to equip young adults with technical skills and career pathways while fostering local economic stability.
"This investment gives us the ability to create real pathways into careers that lead to stability and self-sufficiency," said Roberto Gomez, Executive Director of Cornerstone Craftsman. Laura Runkle, President of Virginia American Water, emphasized that preparing the local workforce strengthens the broader community. The American Water Charitable Foundation, which has distributed over $25 million since 2012, funds these efforts through shareholder contributions, ensuring the grants have no impact on customer utility rates.
