Chicago Hosts National Gun Violence Prevention Expo

Organized by Omerge Alliances and presented by the nonprofit Strides for Peace, the event centers on the theme "Prosperity Through Collaboration." The two-day summit brings together diverse stakeholders, including healthcare professionals, clergy, and public-safety leaders from cities such as Philadelphia, Los Angeles, and New York. The program addresses critical pillars of community stability, ranging from trauma-informed hospital care and policing reform to youth development and faith-based intervention.

"We believe thoughtfully conceived and expertly produced gatherings have the power to transform lives," said Olivia F. Scott, CEO of Omerge Alliances. The agenda includes an Arts Expo, a National Day of Remembrance for Homicide Victims, and a film festival chaired by Rubye Lane. The event also features a Chicago premiere of the documentary Nothing To See Here: Watts. By pairing high-profile figures like former Police Superintendent Larry Snelling and LAPD Chief Charlie Beck with local grassroots organizers, the organizers hope to foster a sustained exchange of resources and actionable policy ideas.
