Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Illinois has committed nearly $4.5 million in 2026-2027 Blue Impact grants to 121 community organizations. These funds aim to address social barriers to health, ranging from food insecurity and housing instability to gaps in specialized medical care for residents across the state.
Brian Snell, President of BCBSIL, noted that the grants leverage the expertise of organizations already embedded in their neighborhoods. Over the past five years, the insurer has directed more than $20 million into similar community-driven programs. The 2026-2027 recipients include a wide array of groups, from the Greater Chicago Food Depository and various legal aid societies to specialized health clinics like Erie Family Health Centers and the Lawndale Christian Health Center.
