Atlantic City Casinos Raise $315,000 for Suicide Prevention
Thousands of employees from Atlantic City casinos gathered on the boardwalk Sunday for the 7th Annual Out of the Darkness Community Walk. The event, which drew widespread industry participation, raised $315,000 to bolster the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention’s mental health outreach and suicide prevention programs across New Jersey.
George Goldhoff, president of the Casino Association of New Jersey, noted that the broad participation underscores a collective commitment to the local community. The funds arrive at a critical time, as suicide remains the third leading cause of death for New Jersey residents between the ages of 15 and 24. Beyond the financial contribution, the event serves as a platform to dismantle the stigma surrounding mental health, providing residents with access to lifesaving resources and educational programs.
