The Duke Energy Foundation has committed $100,000 to bolster career readiness and entrepreneurship across Central Florida and the Tampa Bay region. The funding targets three nonprofit organizations, aiming to provide local residents with leadership development tools and the resources necessary to navigate the modern workforce and launch new small businesses.
The Hispanic Heritage Network of Orange County will receive $25,000 to scale its year-round programming, focusing on leadership training and community engagement. This grant also supports initiatives designed to equip local leaders with resources for managing emergency and severe weather response efforts.
A second $25,000 grant is headed to the Hispanic Heritage Scholarship Fund of Metro Orlando. These funds will support the Next Gen Workforce Leadership Academy, which provides college students with mentorship, financial literacy training, and direct exposure to professional networks to ease their transition into the workforce.
Prospera Initiatives secures the largest portion of the funding, with a $50,000 grant dedicated to assisting small business owners and aspiring entrepreneurs. The organization plans to use the capital to offer technical assistance and financial tools, specifically targeting the removal of barriers to growth for entrepreneurs in the Greater Orlando and Tampa Bay areas.
