Hudson is the first speaker announced for the full six-city series, part of Beyond Now’s recently announced expansion to 76 experiences. His latest single, “Heart Break Rodeo,” was released Nov. 4. The format will vary by city, with live performances, fireside conversations and student Q&A sessions on creativity, overcoming challenges and building a music career. Special guests from music, entertainment and culture will join him at select events.
Beyond Now managing director Scott Rosenbluth said Hudson’s experiences make him a strong fit for the program’s Make Change track, which guides students in pursuing causes they care about. Rosenbluth said Hudson had turned a difficult period in his life into music that helped millions feel less alone. Hudson said he hopes to speak with students about being honest about life experiences and learning from one another.
Hudson began pursuing music as a teenager, but a cancer diagnosis in 2013 interrupted his early career. After treatment, he returned to songwriting and recording, releasing Yesterday’s Tomorrow Night in 2018 and Hey, I’m Here For You in 2020. His music and advocacy address resilience, grief, mental health and human connection. He is also a philanthropist and founded Hey, I’m Here For You, a nonprofit supporting young people facing cancer through creativity, connection and care.
