Production will center in Tucson, Arizona, where the RTX business is currently scaling its engineering workforce to handle a target output of 2,500 missiles annually. The deal covers both the missiles and the necessary hardware and software integration for U.S. forces and Foreign Military Sales partners. Barbara Borgonovi, president of Naval Power at Raytheon, noted that the company has already streamlined manufacturing processes to reduce lead times and maintain delivery momentum.

Raytheon Secures $1.1 Billion Navy Contract for AIM-9X Missiles
The U.S. Navy has awarded Raytheon a $1.1 billion contract to manufacture AIM-9X Block II missiles, a move designed to replenish domestic stockpiles while addressing a surge in procurement requests from international allies amid increasingly volatile global threat environments.

The AIM-9X remains a cornerstone of short-range air-to-air and surface-to-air defense, compatible with various platforms including the National Advanced Surface to Air Missile System (NASAMS). With over 35 nations currently deploying the technology, the system serves as a primary asset for strategic deterrence. This contract reinforces Raytheon's ongoing capacity expansion as it seeks to maintain its role as a key supplier for modern integrated air defense networks.
